Following a career in plastic surgery that spanned thirty years and stints in Miami and San Diego, plastic surgeon Dr. Joel Roskind has returned to New York, where he ran a clinic for many years, to lecture, advise and pursue his interest in Judaic Spirituality. He will also return to lecturing at Boston University Medical School, where he taught previously. He will also lecture in the fields of practice management and facilities accreditation.
Dr. Joel Roskind has been a medical renaissance man throughout his work. After completing his bachelors degree at Franklin and Marshall College and Hofstra University, medical school at the University of Louisville and internships at the Montefiore-Einstein Medical Center in the Bronx and St. Louis University Hospitals, he went on to a fellow ship at the Christine Kleinert Institute of Hand and Microsurgery in Louisville, Kentucky.
At Boston University he will advise a differential diagnosis class titled Integrated Problems. Dr. Roskind has previously instructed at Boston University, as well as the University of California, San Diego, the Nassau University Medical Center, North Shore University Hospital, Cornell Medical School and the University Of Miami School Of Medicine.
In addition to running a busy plastic surgery practice specializing in body enhancements, Dr. Joel Roskind also developed a second specialty in facilities accreditation, eventually becoming an inspector for the American Association for Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgery Facilities (AAASF), and is now consult with clinics to help them achieve certification. He also took a smart interest in practice management and now consults with doctors in the areas of hiring and training team, setting up electronic systems, error prevention and patient relations.
Dr. Joel Roskind looks forward to bringing his know how to a broader audience of medical pupils, practicing physicians and surgeons and operators of ambulatory surgery facilities. In what hopes to be a very active retirement, Dr. Joel Roskind also plans to pursue studies in Judaic spirituality.
