G4 Communications may leave Manchester for Derry

G4 Communications is considering a move to the Derry Wayside Furniture Store remodelled of course in place of its current headquarter base in Manchester.

The property is located at 3 Rockingham Road and is still listed as available on the market, but the president of G4 Communications, Gent Cav, travelled to Londonderry to meet with the planning board and discuss plans for changing the furniture seller into its telecommunications home.

G4 currently has a headquarters that is only 6,000 square feet, but the new building caters for up to 16,000 square feet of desk space.

Cav listed parking as his main concern according to G4’s solicitor John Michels. The building currently only has 25 lots approximately located in the building front with the possibility of adding on seven more in the back. According to the town ordinances, G4 would need to be able to build at least 45 lots onto the site.

Michels stated that G4 is a public utility and the business hopes to get more businesses into town making it clear that the business is aimed at growth which would create a need for more parking. However, Michels went on to state that the business aims to grow alongside the town.

G4 currently provides both Internet and phone services to communities in New Hampshire and competes with other similar providers such as FairPoint and Comcast. Cav stated however that they would need all of the parking around the lot due to the fact that not all of the employees work out of the headquarters although he may place a retail business into another portion of the furniture store.
