The Volvic Challenge seems to be overtaking our television screens in quite a drastic way. It started with the fairly irritating fella who insisted on riding around on his bicycle and panting as he got out his volvic bottle and proclaimed that he felt so much better and more energised than he had ever done before, since starting the volvic challenge. It perhaps might be slightly more convincing if there was an average person who clearly didn’t do one hundred sit ups a day, who took on the volvic challenge and noticed a difference in their energy levels. It’s hardly a revelation for a sporty type to feel alive and active having consumed some water. Anyway, now there is a blonde girl shouting about the joys of drinking water. Like the previous man, she is similarly both a panter and clearly active in her daily life. This commercial, though it spreads a positive message- that drinking water is good for you- is guilty of patronising the viewer. We all know we should be drinking as much water as possible, but getting actors to impersonate sub-par people having their lives transformed by a bottle of water is not exactly convincing, less still encouraging.
