Fighting adult acne

Most adults have experienced at least a little acne at some point well after their teens. The official numbers are that 25% of men and 50% of women have outbreaks of adult acne in their twenties, thirties, forties and possibly beyond. Adult acne is just as tough to deal with as teen acne, especially because it is not expected in adults. Those who suffer from this problem may have lower self esteem, depression and even thoughts of suicide. Adult acne differs a little from teen acne in that it is more often caused by hormones. Many women experience outbreaks of acne while they’re pregnant because of all the hormone changes in their body. It’s worth going to the doctor to see if you can get your hormones in check to help the cause of your acne.

Meanwhile, there is a good way to treat your affected skin that has helped many people with adult acne. Wash your face with a mild cleanser to wash away oil and get the skin ready for medication. Apply a medicated cream that contains 2.5% benzoyl peroxide. You can be very liberal with your application of the cream. Lastly, use a good moisturizer to re-hydrate your skin so that it doesn’t get dried out and more irritated.
